So i am a bio female and my gender identity is neutrois. And i have run into a few problems with language.
1) my sister calls me Sister instead of my bio name (which i dont like either but thats another thing) so she basically tells people i have lady parts every time she talks to me in public. How can i fix this? Sibling is a neutral term for sibling, but it sounds weird. Is there anything else?
2)same thing, but with my parents. They always say "this is my daughter". First off, i'm not YOUR anything. They dont own me, i'm 18. Is there another more neutral word for child? Kid seem to weird because i'm too old for them to call me that.
3) and what about a neutral word for niece/nephew, or grandkid?
'Cousin' is neutral, so why can't all the other words be too!?!?!
Until you're financially independent of your folks, you're pretty much going to have to kiss ass/suck up to "my house, my rules" mentality because you can't afford to live on your own, otherwise. You really DO NOT want to push these buttons because really bad things can happen if you're kicked to the streets and you don't have anyone to turn to.
Create an alias for yourself. Search online for a name you like, try it with friends, see how you like it. Once you're sure you've settled on your new name, as your folks and sibling to call you your new name.

firewallflower: The irony is that I wouldn't actually be on AVEN now if the site were functioning, but since it's down, I feel compelled to keep checking for any change. I should, however, go to bed—and will do so.

firewallflower: Keep calm and carry on and send good thoughts towards whatever tech people are working on this, I guess? And in the meantime, cake.
